Three things I’ll be leaving in 2022

A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life.  – Muhammad Ali

Hey friends,

Welcome back to my blog!

As the year is coming to an end, it would be a perfect time to reflect and dissect some traits I have that are best left in the past. Naturally, as humans, we always strive to be a better version of ourselves, whether it’s through setting goals or our typical news years resolutions. However, it’s always easier said than done; like my dad always says, old habits die hard. As an avid book reading, I’ve come to learn the key to ensuring old habits are completely removed is to ensure new systems and styles of doing things are set up in replacement of the old habits. With this all to hand and without straying too off course. Here are three things I’ll be leaving in 2022.

  • A Fixed mindset– learning about mindsets, the way we do things, and why we do these things is imperative to our growth as human beings. We all have or have had a fixed mindset in some areas of our lives to some degree. For those who may not be familiar with a fixed mindset, it believes we can’t grow, adapt and change in certain areas. Essentially, it’s the underlying belief that we are born with a limited capacity in a specific area, and things can’t change. For me, it has mainly surrounded welcoming change and new ways of doing things in particular areas, such as trying a different style of workout routine and the idea of travelling solo. I’ve always been one to take on new opportunities and explore life. However, my fear of the unknown in specific areas hasn’t allowed me to be open to new things. Enter the growth mindset! Which welcomes and promotes growth in areas of unfamiliar territory.

  • Inconsistency – Consistency is a beautiful thing when it’s met with action and discipline. Some may argue that struggling to be consistent is a sign of a deeper issue, but that’s a whole other conversation for another day. When I say inconsistency, I don’t mean it in every area of my life. (If that were the case, I wouldn’t get the majority of things I needed to do completed) My lovely blog is a perfect example of an area I need to be more consistent with. (Yes, I’m calling myself out) Have you ever thought to yourself if I were more consistent with the task and project, imagine how much growth I would’ve seen sooner? It’s like going to the gym and building muscle each time you start and stop. It delays the results. I know I need to work on having a better plan in place for my blog and possibly an Accountable partner (apply here lol)

  • Not being fully in the moment – I am 100% sure I’m not the only person guilty of this. In this era of social media and updates, it is easy to miss what’s happening around us and fully be present. I visited Turkey last month, and this was an excellent opportunity for me where I didn’t spend as much time as I usually would on my phone. For probably the first time ever on vacation, I spent time journaling my thoughts and feelings, which was super therapeutic. Setting up time limits and specific restrictions will allow me to be more present. I think the key to this is balance when it comes to phone usage, and a great deal of self-control is required.

Those are the three things (amongst many others) I’ll be leaving in 2022. Can you relate to any of these? What are three things you’ll be leaving in 2022?

Till next time.

Lots of love

Sasha x

Very insightful read. Growing out of a fixed mindset is crucial for us all, as excellence demands nothing less than a growth mindset. Looking forward to your twice monthly blog posts ☺️
